Injury Solutions is owned and managed by Ciarán Aherne. Ciarán qualified from the institute of Physical Therapy in 2010 with a BSc in Physical Therapy and Applied Health Science. He is a Coru Registered Physiotherapist and a member of the Irish Association of Physical Therapists (IAPT). Treatments are individually tailored and can include; myofascial trigger-point release, deep tissue massage, mobilisation of the spine and specific exercise prescription. Ciarán has treated people from a variety of sporting backgrounds e.g. basketball, soccer, Gaelic football, hockey, rugby & athletics .

Ciarán uses a range of manual techniques and “hands-on” therapy to assist rehabilitation from musculoskeletal injuries, back and neck pain, postural problems, sprains/strains and sports injuries among other issues. Treatments are individually tailored and can include; myofascial trigger-point release, deep tissue massage, mobilisation of the spine and specific exercise prescription.
An Initial consultation will normally take approximately 45min and during this time a detailed history will be taken followed by a postural assessment, palpation of the injured area and orthopedic tests.
Follow up appointments usually last between 30-40 minutes depending on the injury.
Mum & Baby Pilates
Safe & effective exercise to improve strength and posture after pregnancy.
Taught by an experienced Physical Therapist and Post-Natal Pilates instructor certified by the Australian
Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute.
Includes assessment of your abdominal muscles to check for muscle separation.
Suitable for mothers from 6-8 weeks following birth. For complicated births please consult your health professional prior to commencing.
Clinical Pilates
APPI Pilates is a taught by Physiotherapists to teach Clinical Pilates from an injury rehab perspectihve. The APPI pilates method provides therapists with a clinical and user friendly tool for retraining correct activation of the core muscles. It consists of mat based exercises designed specifically for Therapists to teach to the clinical population.
The key elements of APPI Pilates include retraining.
Neutral lumbo-pelvic alignment and activation of the key lumbo-pelvic stabilising muscles.
Correct ribcage/thoracic alignment
Scapulo-thoracic stabilisation
Deep neck flexor retraining to stabilise the cervical spine.
The repertoire of APPI Pilates exercises also include exercise to improve spinal mobility, flexibility of the key trunk and lower limb muscles groups, body awareness and postural awareness.
Abdominal Separation
Do you have a separation of your abdominal muscles?
How to check:
Lie on your back with your knees bent,
Place one hand behind your head and perform a sit up,
Palpate above and below umbilicus with your finger to feel for a separation.

Dry Needling
Massage
Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as lighter styles e.g Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense (depending on the patients tolerance). It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots.
